In our first few visits to Antigua, I had not realized that there are vast ruins at the rear of the Cathedral that faces the central park. So, when we stopped by Antigua on our way back from the lake with my parents, I made a point to see them after we had toured them around and enjoyed lunch at Frida’s.
On the way, we came across some traditional dancers that were performing in the street. They looked to be wrapping up, so I didn’t really get to see the dance, but I hope they will be there again on a future visit.
The Cathedral was built in 1670 and the earthquake of 1773 all but destroyed the building.
Here’s DiploMom attempting to stave off the DiploTot meltdown. She had been a real trooper, so at this point we decided it was time to head back home.
