Guatemala City never ceases to surprise us. Some good friends in the Embassy community threw a little baby shower for DiploMom at a spa near us. DiploMom had never heard of it before, but she returned from the festivities totally impressed with how fancy the place was.
As you’ll see below, there were a good number of ladies present. She figured they would have to rotate around to get all their manicures and pedicures in, but how silly of us, this is Guatemala. An entire cadre of workers was assigned to their private room to meet their every need. No waiting on anyone to finish.
YO ♥ GUA indeed!
DiploTot has been enjoying a weekly swim class for the past couple of months at Club Delfines. Here are a few pictures from the latest session. The classes aren’t anything fancy, but we’ve noticed that she is getting more comfortable in the water, which was all we were hoping for at this point.
DiploMom and I got away for one night this weekend for a brief babymoon at the San Gregorio Hotel & Spa, located about 30 minutes out of the city on the highway to El Salvador. The hotel has beautiful views overlooking Lake Amatilán and individual “cabins” that all face out to the beautiful vista.
We had a package that included the room, dinner, breakfast and two massages, all for a little under $200, which is a remarkable deal compared to what a similar one-night get-a-way would cost back at home.
The rooms were spacious, comfortable and modern and the spa had a great wet sauna that I was able to bake myself in after we checked in.
